More Than Just the Four "R"s: Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Religion
St. Mary students and families enjoy a wide range of extracurricular activities and learning opportunities outside the classroom. From football practice beginning in July to student choirs that sing throughout the school year, there's always something happening at St. Mary School!
St. Mary School Clubs, Learning, and Performing Arts Groups include:
- Student Council starting in grade 5
- School Spelling and Geography Bees
The 7th and 8th Grade Science Fair, which regularly sends top entrants to regional and state competition
- 600 Minute Reading Programs, with recognition for successful completion
- Extensive choral and music programs: Heavenly Harmony Choir (Grades 3 - 8)
- Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Bands
- School plays and musicals, including recent productions of The Jungle Book, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, Cactus Pass, Guys and Dolls, and The Hobbit
- St. Mary students regularly appear in the casts of local theatrical productions at the Woodstock Opera House and Marian Central Catholic High School.
St. Mary Sports Teams
are a focal point of student activity and student and parish pride. Teams include:
- Football teams, starting with a beginners' program for seven and eight year olds through the 8th Grade heavyweight team
- Boys' and Girls' Basketball starting in 5th grade
- Girls' Volleyball starting in 5th grade
- Spring Co-ed Track starting in 5th grade
And, of course, what would a fun-filled school year be without
Field Trips
that St. Mary students and their parent chaperones love! Trips include museums, zoos, and cultural events in Chicago and Milwaukee, the Woodstock Opera House, local fire stations, Donley's Wild West Town, the nationally recognized Challenger Learning Center right here in Woodstock, local farms and agricultural expositions, Mass and plays at Marian Central Catholic High School, and many others. |
